And here we are already, for this week’s fun fact. We say ‘already’ as it’s a busy week here in the office. Following the meticulous work on a patent application last week, we focus on tweaking the drawings accordingly. A patent is only as good as its first claim. Having worked on developing the product over the past 18 months, it’s exciting progress as we edge closer to getting the product to market. So back to the fact … on this day in 1976, the first space shuttle ‘Enterprise’ was completed. The first launch was in 1981. I remember watching the launch and the landing as an 11-year-old in complete awe. From a young age, I was always fascinated by such feats and how things worked. So much so that I pursued my passion and began my career in engineering. I started out being very hands-on – sheet metal work and tool making. This practical experience has been invaluable and only enhances my CAD work. I progressed to Senior Design Engineer roles in global medical device companies for over 20 years.
