Stepping out

Due to Good Friday, we’re a day ahead with this weeks ‘Friday Fact’ – it’s not an April Fools’ trick to try and catch you out honest! Much as we love an engineering-based fact, we fancy a change this week and are going for a more personal touch.

With Spring in the air, I also had a spring (of sorts) in my step, or should we say steps these past few weeks. Not one to shy away from a challenge, I embarked on ‘March the Month’ to raise funds for Prostate Cancer UK. With a family member affected by this disease, this has been a strong motivator to complete the 11,000 daily steps and give something back to those working in cancer research.

To give some perspective, during February I clocked 84,000 steps equating to 57km overall. In March with lighter days, the daily average upped to 14,487 steps per day and 452,210, which added up to 318.2Km in total for the month. As well as raising funds for a good cause, this has been a good health kick and I hope to keep up the regular walks. Hopefully, this will help to balance out the chocolate treats during the long weekend ahead! If you would like to donate to Prostate Cancer UK, please click on this link to the charity’s website.

Speaking of chocolate, we were delighted to receive 80 nominations for our hamper giveaway this week. Our 86 year old winner has raised money for unwell children and volunteers in a residential home. A worthy winner giving us all a smile. Our lockdown quiz continues for the next two Friday evenings – please see our Facebook page for details if you’d like to join in. We’ve enjoying the quizzes but are pleased restrictions are easing and we look forward to seeing our clients soon.
